Exhibition 03 — Paintings coming soon. Below: the artist's statement and the live performance from the exhibition.
With Chaos and Serenity, I explore the themes I return to again and again — the ones that inhabit me most deeply and shape how I see the world. This tension between chaos and serenity is, I believe, the very foundation of human experience. From birth to death, every human being oscillates between these two poles, torn between primal instinct and the aspiration toward some form of transcendence.
Matter itself — dense, raw — seems to pull us toward the abyss of our most archaic impulses: domination, jealousy, hatred, violence, turned both against ourselves and against others. This inner and outer chaos exerts an almost inevitable pull, a perpetual fall toward what binds us to our animal condition. By contrast, the pursuit of light, freedom, and love appears as a steep path, demanding constant effort. It is striking to notice that humanity's most sublime qualities — kindness, simplicity, inner harmony — are often the ones the outside world struggles to value, as if they required a harder fight to emerge.
So we move forward on a narrow thread, tightrope walkers across our own existence, searching for balance between these opposing forces. Every step is a silent battle not to fall, not to give in to the gravity of chaos. It is precisely this tension that I have tried to translate into my work — not only through the themes it addresses, but through the very gesture of painting itself.
In these works, I have tried to capture this tension, this duality between chaos and serenity, both in the subjects themselves and in the technique and manner in which the paint is applied. The brushwork becomes a reflection of this struggle: disordered strokes of brush and knife sit alongside zones of calm and harmony. The initial chaos — represented through seemingly disorganized shapes and colors — gradually gives rise to structure, an organization that strives to let beauty emerge. It is a metaphor for the human condition: out of disorder and inner conflict, we seek to create meaning, order, and ultimately, beauty.
Each work becomes a microcosm of this universal quest. Texture, colour contrast, the interplay of light and shadow — everything works to express this duality. At times chaos seems to dominate, overwhelming the canvas with violent bursts. At other times serenity takes over, calming the eye and inviting contemplation. But in every painting, the two forces coexist, clash, and complete one another, a reminder that the balance between these two poles is what defines our humanity.
Chaos and Serenity is an invitation to reflect on our own inner journey. It is a mirror held up to our struggles, our doubts, but also our hopes and aspirations — an invitation to observe and feel this tension, and perhaps to glimpse, within the turmoil, an opening toward serenity.
"Painting in quick, instinctive strokes, I try to bring forth from the void a form that seeks its own balance between shadow and light. This spontaneous gesture becomes a meditation in motion, a search for harmony between chaos and serenity — an intimate echo of our human condition. Each canvas invites us to move through disorder to reveal what is essential, oscillating between raw energy and the search for meaning, in an endless process where every search calls forth another."
